What you get when she proofreads your stuff is complete confidence that it's all had an exceptionally robust and methodical going-over; there really is no-one more meticulous. But you also get the special benefit of her brilliant and sympathetic editorial eye.

Sally Baggott at Birmingham provided constructive criticism that made my funding application more convincing than I could. As well as being a meticulous copyeditor, Sally has an intuitive and enviable grasp of what a research project is really about.

The Words on the Page

I want the words on the page here to inform and demystify. So I’ll be sharing news, information and intelligence on anything and everything to do with academic research, publishing and funding. There will be regular updates on the funding landscape, interviews with colleagues and clients, and ‘how to’ guides on writing book proposals and applications for research funding. Aside from the nuts and bolts stuff, I’m interested in the bigger strategic challenges that currently face the academic community, things like Collaborative Research, Open Access, Knowledge Exchange and Impact. Finally and occasionally, I may give in to that academic impulse that still lingers and put some of my own words on the page.
